Brass: Raw, unfinished, rich low brass (RLB). RLB, also know as red brass because of the high copper content, is an alloy of approximately 85% copper and 15% zinc and is lead free. It is normal to see variations in color and patina, depending on the age of the findings and manufacturing processes used. Some lots of findings have been in storage for many years and have developed rich patinas and some are from newer production. Findings can be cleaned with ammonia and water, vinegar and water or brass cleaner. Note, these cleaners will remove the natural patina or alter the color of the natural patina. Do not use any of these cleaners if you wish to maintain the natural patina.
Brass Ox: The brass findings are cleaned and tubbed with polishing media. An oxidising agent is applied to create an "aged" appearance. The findings are tubbed with various shapes and sizes of polishing media to remove excess agent and coated with an acrylic lacquer. Clean with soap and water. Do not use brass cleaner or harsh cleaners.
Silver Ox: The brass findings are cleaned and tubbed with polishing media, electroplated with .999 fine silver and an oxidising agent is applied to create an "aged" appearance. The findings are tubbed with various shapes and sizes of polishing media to remove excess agent and finished with chromate for durability. Clean with soap and water. Do not use brass cleaner or harsh cleaners.
Copper Ox: The brass findings are cleaned and tubbed with polishing media, electroplated with copper and an oxidising agent is applied to create an "aged" appearance. The findings are tubbed with various shapes and sizes of polishing media to remove excess agent and finished with chromate for durability. Clean with soap and water. Do not use brass cleaner or harsh cleaners.
Matte Gold: The brass findings are cleaned and tubbed with polishing media and electroplated with 24K gold. Clean with soap and water or mild jewelry cleaner. Do not use brass cleaner or harsh cleaners.
Matte Silver: The brass findings are cleaned and tubbed with polishing media and electroplated with .999 fine silver. Clean with soap and water or mild jewelry cleaner. Do not use brass cleaner or harsh cleaners.
Matte Gold with White Antique: The brass findings are cleaned and tubbed with polishing media, electroplated with 24K matte gold and white acrylic lacquer is applied.The findings are tubbed with various shapes and sizes of polishing media to remove excess lacquer and polish the highlights. Wipe lightly with damp cloth and dry with soft cloth. Do not soak in water. Do not use brass cleaner or harsh cleaners.
Matte Black with White Antique: The brass findings are cleaned and tubbed with polishing media, electroplated with black nickel and white acrylic lacquer is applied.The findings are tubbed with various shapes and sizes of polishing media to remove excess lacquer and polish the highlights. Wipe lightly with damp cloth and dry with soft cloth. Do not soak in water. Do not use brass cleaner or harsh cleaners.
